MetaMask
MetaMask Case Study

Overview
This is a passion project, a personal exploration, not commissioned work, reimagining MetaMask as a non-intrusive menu bar app. The goal was to design a minimal macOS wallet with zero onboarding, functional for social payments (via ENS), avoiding complicated dashboards, and replacing keys with biometrics access.
The Challenge
Even though MetaMask is the most popular gateway for new crypto users on DeFi, its UI responds to their business strategic goals of monetizing swaps between several chains and coins. But not everybody is a power user nor needs advanced security layering. This project explores how crypto adoption could happen "under the hood," with borderless remittances and gated access through "invisible" credentials.

Design Approach
The redesign focused on three key areas:
- Simplified Experience: Creating a sufficiently minimal macOS wallet with zero onboarding
- Social Payments: Making ENS-based contacts work seamlessly for everyday transactions
- Enhanced Security: Replacing cryptographic keys with biometric access for everyday users

Key Features

Concept
This redesign represents a personal perspective on crypto adoption rather than MetaMask's official brand goals. I believe that widespread crypto adoption will happen through invisible infrastructure that enables borderless remittances and credential-based access to content, without requiring users to understand the underlying technology.
